Mission

A growing number of intellectuals in the Himalayan region, Nepal and abroad constantly write on issues related to political economy, conflict, democracy, and good governance. Such pieces are mostly non-theoretical, non-technical, and descriptive, but they are often articulate, thoughtful and full of insight. These essays and commentaries can make significant input to policy debates for improving institutions, social harmony, and governance in a developing country like Nepal and other countries in South Asia. Some of these pieces are published in popular newspapers in an extremely short form, and without any review. The lack of academically rigorous outlet leaves much careful work done by NGOs and researchers unnoticed.

The e-journal, Liberal Democracy Nepal Bulletin, intends to fill the gap by providing a rigorous academic platform to promote intellectual discourse and dialogue among the scholars and practitioners who care about promoting liberal democracy in the Himalayan region.
