Nepal Study Center research room at UNM
and
its newly established branch office
at Kathmandu University's Management School in Balkumari constitute its physical infrastructure. The UNM center houses several computers, GIS data bases, census, health surveys, and statistical software. Many graduate students and affiliated faculty conduct research on issues related to the Himalayan region in areas such as environment, food security, conflict, and health just to name a few.
NSC also hopes to develop research capacity at its KU branch.
In Summer of 2009, this office at KU was used to coduct a household survey of the Valley and to perform focus group. This branch will also provide a venue for our Himalayan-bound visiting scholars to present papers and conduct interactions with the scholars from the region. We hope to link the two through a video conferencing facility.
